General Information
(How) Fresh from the tree of knowledge
It is impossible to imagine cultural history without the red apple. In ancient times, for example, the apple was dedicated to Aphrodite and stood for love, beauty and desire. Speaking of desire: In Christianity, the "fruit" on the tree of knowledge, which Eve covetously bit into and thus heralded the fall of man, was eventually interpreted as an apple. Oh, if only felting had been invented sooner, Adam and Eve might not have been driven from their paradisiacal climes. After all, the pure new wool of these hand-felted apples is really not made for biting into. Rather, they are tempting because of their decorative qualities: (not only) as a trio, these red apples will adorn your autumn and Christmas decorations, whether on the Thanksgiving table or in Advent arrangements, whether as window decorations on a branch or as gift decorations. And of course as "Christmas apples" in the tradition of hanging a few shiny polished red apples as a splash of color in the Christmas tree or arranging them with gingerbread and nuts on the colorful plate. In this respect, these felt apples are also much more durable than any natural apple, which would all too soon have to go the less paradisiacal way of all things ephemeral.
Fairly combined. Gry & Sif
During her backpacking trip through Nepal, the Dane Gry Staunstrup was immediately captivated by the openness and warmth of the people - and by their high level of craftsmanship. She was able to observe in detail how skillfully and skilfully Nepalese women felted wool into Objekten. The idea of using this skill and combining Nepalese craftsmanship with Danish design was quickly born. And the idea was immediately followed by action.
Since 2000, the company Gry & Sif has been producing a wide range of products from wool felt in Nepal. The designs supplied by Gry Staunstrup are in typical Danish design, as striking as they are discreet and at the same time carefree and cheerful; the production is carried out by Nepalese women using traditional craftsmanship. Now Fair Trade certified, Gry & Sif stands for fair wages, good working conditions and transparency. Only pure new wool from New Zealand sheep is used for the felt products - each of which is unique and handmade.
Note:
Certain manufacturing steps are carried out by hand. Slight dimensional and color deviations may therefore occur.
