Rega Planar 1 turntable

In the Planar 1, the specially developed by Rega backlash-free bearings with extremely low friction, the main bearing made of brass with the best fit and coupling, and the platter with 23 mm material thickness (and thus neat flywheel mass) ensure optimum smoothness and speed consistency. It thus possesses excellent playback qualities that lift it well above the entry-level class in terms of sound quality. The Planar 1 - like all Rega turntables, a belt-driven turntable - comes with a chassis made of MDF board, on which the turntable made of torsion-resistant phenolic resin with felt overlay rotates. On it, sound carriers can be played at speeds of 33 and 45 rpm. The speed is simply adjusted by moving the drive belt located under the platter. The Planar 1 is manufactured in Great Britain, from parts that - which is now very unusual - were also largely made there. We are convinced, more music enjoyment at this price there is not.

Tony Relph and Roy Gandy, founders of Rega, are among those technically adept enthusiasts who, from the very beginning, have been unswervingly committed to the constant improvement of the analogue world of sound. While other manufacturers have completely withdrawn from the market (and slowly rediscover it now), Rega has used the past 30 years to improve turntables, tonearms and pick-up systems continuously. Even their entry-level models demonstrate the technical meticulousness and obsession with brilliant sound typical for Rega products.
