General Information

Rolling handle advantage

The fixed handle leg of these compact rose and shrub shears rests on the ball of the hand, while the movable one rolls along with the opening and closing hand. On the one hand, this reduces the friction of the handle on the skin, and on the other hand - once you have practiced using these shears - it also saves around 30 percent of your strength. The blade head of this model from the range of scissors specialist Berger in Wuppertal is inclined at an angle of 15°, which makes it easier to work in an ergonomic hand position. And if you want to cut short, thin branches with these shears, you can engage an intermediate lock that shortens the cutting path - again, you have saved a little strength and can continue your pruning work in the garden in a relaxed manner. The low weight of the forged aluminum handles also contributes to this.

For a good finish: A brief introduction to secateurs

When choosing the right secateurs, it is important to first answer the question of what you want to cut. Our shears differ in terms of material, size, weight and features, so each one has a specific task. There are basically two types of shears: With bypass shears, two blades glide past each other, leaving a clean, smooth cut; with anvil shears, on the other hand, a sharp blade meets the stationary anvil. Bypass shears are particularly suitable for precise cuts requiring little force on thinner pruning material - such as roses, shrubs or perennials - while anvil shears can be used to make powerful cuts on thicker branches, making them particularly suitable for pruning woody plants. In our range you will find, for example, specialists for topiary or thinning, for a particularly hand-friendly working method or an extra-strong cut for particularly thick branches.
