The difference between a hand-braided belt and a product of a braiding machine is evident at the ends of the belt. While machine products are held together at both ends only by topstitching, the braid of a handmade belt begins at the top and is sewn into the trim of the buckle. The black belt has a chromeplated brass buckle, the brown belt a polished brass buckle.

Since 1825, the name Schröder has been synonymous with expertise in leather in Uetersen, Schleswig-Holstein. For 140 years, leather was tanned and crafted into leather goods at the company’s own facility—until 1964. The leather is never sprayed with dye; instead, it is dyed throughout in a vat—ensuring that its surface remains textured and vibrant.

The belt length is the length from the inside edge of the belt buckle to the centre belt hole. This length should correspond to the waist size of the trousers.
