    General Information

The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. And Paavo Järvi.

For years, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (a term the Bremeners invented) has played its way from success to success and is now considered one of the leading orchestras internationally. The ensemble consciously combines symphonic sonority with the ideal of musical transparency and expressive precision.
In terms of laurels, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has collected no small amount. In 2016, for example, Deutschlandradio Kultur honored the ensemble for its "innovative impulses in German musical life" and named it "Orchestra of the Year."
In addition to its special style of music-making, a wholly "non-artistic" aspect certainly also contributes to its success: its special organizational structure. The Bremen ensemble has no public or private sponsor. Instead, the individual orchestra members are the owners of their own orchestra company as shareholders. As such, they are responsible not only for artistic decisions, but also for the finances. This self-determined independence gives them the freedom to choose their own musical partners and projects.
When it came to choosing a conductor, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen proved to be a particularly lucky choice: Paavo Järvi has been its artistic director since 2004. The collaboration with the Estonian-American conductor initially gave rise to the Beethoven project, which was enthusiastically received worldwide.

    Schumann. Celebrated symphony recordings.

After Beethoven, now Schumann: the ensemble and its conductor dealt just as intensively with the symphonic works of Robert Schumann. The result: equally celebrated. The reactions of the musical world were almost euphoric, from Tokyo to St. Petersburg, from Warsaw to Vienna.
"Järvi's Schumann will go down in Schumann concert history," enthused the Mostly Classic Magazin after a concert in Japan. And the Süddeutsche Zeitung found, "Järvi's symphonic [Schumann] adventures with the Kammerphilharmonie have the effect of cocaine. Including the danger of addiction."
We don't want to go as far as addiction. However, we also see the potential of a "benchmark new recording," as the Bayerischer Rundfunk judged. The recordings of the four Schumann symphonies are now also available on vinyl in a special edition limited to 555 copies. An authentic musical experience from one of the most innovative orchestras that set the tone in this country.
