Shoetrees cedar wood

The well-known Virginia cedar wood actually comes from the Virginian juniper (Juniperus virginiana L.). Its wood has a cedar-like odor, hence the trade name Virginian Cedar or Red Cedar. Its natural content of essential oils and ability to attract moisture make the untreated wood an ideal material for shoe lasts and shoe trees, which are also very practical when traveling due to their light weight. However, the spicy scent of the wood is not to everyone's liking. Our shoe lasts and shoe trees are manufactured in Bad Berleburg.

Shoes belong on shoetrees or shoelasts after wearing. They keep the shoes in shape and absorb the moisture that formes inside the boots when worn – if the stretchers are made of unvarnished wood. While it is indisputable that shoetrees belong in every pair of shoes, there are two opinions about when to use them: While some say that you should put the stretcher into the shoe while it is still warm, others advise that the shoe benefits from letting it air out first. If the boots have become wet, you should stuff them with newspaper and insert the shoetrees later when the leather is sufficiently dry.
