Simona plant pot with saucer

Simona plant pot with saucer
- Natural: Tuscan terracotta (dyed)
- Special: with matching coaster
- Restrained: with simple pearl decor
General Information
In French style
This model from the Bergs Potter collection is called Simona. The shape and decoration - the pearls strung on a string - are inspired by similar plant pots found at flea markets in Paris's famous Latin Quarter. It is easy to imagine them in the French gardens and town houses of the 19th century, as that is probably where they originally belonged. The special thing about the new edition commissioned by the Copenhageners is that each planter in the Simona range comes with a matching saucer. This not only looks beautiful, it also saves you the often time-consuming search for matching saucers in the right size. The Simona pots are not exactly large, so the greenery also benefits from being able to collect water. This way you can ensure that your pots don't constantly dry out. We prefer to see the beautiful terracotta pots on the balcony or windowsill, perhaps planted with succulents or ferns.
Plant pots for generations. Bergs Potter in Copenhagen
When Victor Berg inherited his ceramics business in Copenhagen in 1942, it was particularly important to him to make the everyday lives of his fellow human beings a little more colorful in gray times. In the words of the Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen: "Life alone is not enough, said the butterfly. You must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower." So Berg always kept a bouquet of vases and pots in his store and also added cut flowers to the range. The people of Copenhagen liked this - over the years, several stores in the Danish capital were added, and eventually also plant pots and planters based on his own designs. When Victor Berg's children joined the family business in the 1980s, they began to have their own ideas - initially inspired by historical models that they found all over Europe - molded in terracotta. To this end, Bergs Potter still works with traditional potteries in Tuscany, more precisely in Lucca, and now also in Portugal; a tradition that is now being continued with great dedication by the third generation of Bergs. The preferred material is the famous southern Tuscan Galestro clay, which is rich in minerals and is considered to be particularly frost-resistant. Once fired, even the unglazed terracotta can show shades of red and pink, gray and white - an appealing natural patina that only this clay possesses. Another advantage for the health of your potted plants: the carbonate and potassium salts contained in the clay ensure good permeability, which can have a particularly positive effect on the development of the root system.
