The small ebonite pocket comb is made with fine teeth on one side and wide teeth on the other. The name suggests: It is predestined for the trouser pocket, jacket pocket or handbag.

A whole chemical industry makes attempts to combat it but it can often be remedied with simple and natural means, namely the excess grease in hair, its brittleness and roughness. Ebonite is a hard rubber compound made from natural rubber and sulphur, whose properties are very similar to those of buffalo horn. It is elastic, torsion-resistant, dimensionally stable and antistatic. With its deep black color, it resembles ebony both haptically and visually, from whose English term "ebony" its name is derived.
The chemical and heat-resistant ebonite combs have proven to be extremely robust in the rigors of everyday salon life, which is why ebonite is still the material of choice. They are processed by hand at the company headquarters in Lüneburg in around 40 steps: the teeth are sawn out with specially developed diamond cutters, rounded and then polished. The result is a double-conical tooth with an even, burr-free surface that glides smoothly through the hair and over the scalp - hairdressers all over the world swear by these combs.
