Why China? Some of our customers may be surprised at this apparent turnabout of ours – we’ve always maintained that ‘local’ is best. It’s a long story: after failing to find any sort of working cafetiere in Europe, we turned to the ever-inventive Americans, where our partner referred us to China – to be precise to Guangdong province, and this is where the coffee pot we’re now offering comes from. Still, why? The simple answer: quality: First, the pot is immaculate, both in material and finish. The twin-layered body is of smooth, classic simple high-gloss stainless steel (no plastic anywhere!). Second, as we said, there’s nothing in Germany or indeed Europe that even remotely comes up to this standard. In other words, the ‘far-away’ answer is best!
Stainless Steel – and nothing else.
The French press method has for many years enjoyed the reputation of being one of the best ways of making coffee from the point of view of flavour and enjoyment. The use of stainless steel has the double advantage of both looking good and also (with its twin layers) of keeping the coffee warm longer. The heat is retained inside, and hardly reflected outwards – meaning that it’s easy to hold in the hand – note here the super-elegant, easy-grip handle. And with a little care it’s possible to pour out the coffee without dripping.
The only snag: you can hear the squeak of metal against metal as you press the plunger down.
