General Information
For a warming spice and fine aroma
We appreciate the warming spice and the subtly sweet, nutty, slightly peppery and sometimes earthy, deep aroma of nutmeg not only in béchamel sauce, with potatoes or egg dishes. Especially in the cooler months of the year, soups, stews, braised dishes and curries are delicious with a generous pinch of this versatile spice. The seeds of the nutmeg fruit are sold whole in dried form. Correspondingly hard and firm, you need the right tool to extract the full, invigorating power of their aroma and flavor. A stainless steel grater like this one from Triangel in Solingen is ideal. Many small, upwardly curved and sharpened teeth form the grating surface, the nutmeg falls down as a fine, spicy powder. This utensil is also known as a crown grater because the many small circles are reminiscent of miniature crowns.
With Solingen expertise. The art of the sharp blade
At home in the blade city of Solingen and specializing in razor-sharp tools for the catering trade and kitchen since 1946, the manufacturer Triangle knows exactly what is important when it comes to kitchen graters. The blades of these stainless steel graters are exceptionally sharp: the zester lifts fine particles cleanly from the citrus peel instead of crushing them. The graters turn chocolate and hard cheese into wafer-thin flakes, while the coarse grater produces firm, crunchy pieces when grating potatoes and vegetables. The crown grater turns apples into fine mash and raw potatoes into the perfect textured mass for perfect potato dumplings.
At the base of each grater, the frame runs in two small arches that fit on the edge of the bowl or pot. Placed there, the grater has a reliable grip. The Triangle graters are also very stable on the chopping board: two knobs on the lower frame prevent slipping. What's more, a catcher can be clipped onto the grating surface to collect the precious grated food like a funnel. No matter how hard you work, the fine grated particles of nutmeg or Parmesan will end up exactly where they should - on the dish - and not scattered over the work surface or tablecloth. The catcher can be easily removed for cleaning or when not in use. Turned upside down and placed over the grating surface, it also offers effective protection: on the one hand, it protects any fingers from injury when reaching into the depths of the kitchen drawer, and on the other, it protects the grater from contact with other utensils stored there - so the blades remain sharp and functional for a long time.
