From Portobello Road to the Catwalks of the Fashion Capitals. Oliver Spencer.
Frustrated by the narrow confines of art school, Briton Oliver Spencer gave up his studies and instead opted for clothes retailing and a market stall at London’s Portobello Road Market. In those days when Spencer was a stallholder on the market renowned for its intermingling of second-hand clothing and fashion items, his enthusiasm for garments and fabrics turned into a strong passion. Consequently, he came up with the next step: a self-built fashion brand. After developing and expanding the Favourbrook label in the 1990s, the creative mastermind founded a new brand in 2002 and labelled it with his name, ready to shoulder responsibility and an even greater commitment. Under the umbrella of the Oliver Spencer brand, he combines high-quality materials and cuts inspired by tailor-made designs with modern style and an easy-going design language. Spencer’s designs reflect his motto that casual cuts and comfortable fitting clothes have nothing to do with a slouchy look. Oliver Spencer has his label’s garments made in the best European workshops – almost half of them based in Great Britain.
