This warming plate from Stöckel in Eutin has been a common appliance in upmarket restaurants for decades. Powered by two tea lights, it really does keep plates and food (and not just itself) warm. The form unpretentiously follows the function: the stainless steel frame is heavy and perfectly finished. The aluminum plate (material thickness 4 mm) conducts the heat.

This hotplate, manufactured by Stöckel in Northern Germany, has been seen in many fine restaurants for decades now. It uses two tealights and keeps both plates and food beautifully warm.
The shape is only determined by the function: height 5 cm, length 38.4 cm, depth 20 cm. The stainless steel frame is heavy and perfectly finished.
The aluminium plate conducts the heat.
