These striped shirts are made from a soft, durable double knitted fabric. One side displays a stripe pattern; the other side is plain-coloured. When the sleeves are rolled up, the plain-coloured side shows, but the shirt can also be worn inside out. The soft-flowing but nonetheless stable jersey is knit in two layers of yarn. While they are being created both layers of mesh are firmly joined at short intervals with a connecting thread: a homogenous knit quality is the result. The trimmed edges are sewn together; an elastic yarn hems the edges with an overlock stitch.

These shirts are made by Armor lux in the Brittany city of Quimper. They are characterised by their simple, comfortable cuts, classic colours and the uncompromising quality of their material and workmanship. For instance, the jersey is straightened before sewing, an elaborate process which very effectively prevents the twisting of the garment after washing.
Only Egyptian cotton from controlled biological cultivation is used. Jersey knit in various weight classes and knitted terry cloth are produced on circular knitting machines.

"Armor" is the Breton word for the sea, and "lux" can only mean the light on the coast. In any case, many of the garments produced by Armor lux still have a maritime character today - sweaters and shirts, dresses, pants, hats, caps and scarves. Founded by a Swiss man in Quimper at the end of the 1930s, the company combines simple, comfortable cuts, classic colors and uncompromising quality in terms of materials and workmanship. Production largely takes place at the company's headquarters in France. For us, Armor lux uses organic certified cotton.
