This light and airy comforter filled with wild silk is ideal for warm summer nights. Silk is characterized by its natural breathability and absorbency. Due to its fiber structure, it can absorb and store a lot of moisture without feeling damp. At the same time, silk also releases moisture quickly and is therefore perceived as cooling. The wild silk comforter therefore ensures a pleasant and balanced sleeping climate, especially in summer. The skin-friendly silk comforter is ideal for people who need little warmth or for warm summer nights when you don't want to do without a comforter despite the heat. A fine, light (460 g/sqm) and tightly woven percale made from organic cotton is used for the filling. Thanks to the comfort quilting, the comforter adapts perfectly to your body and your movements. The wild silk blanket is manufactured in the Allgäu region.

The wild silk summer blanket has another special feature: The silk used is Ahimsa wild silk - it is obtained without animal suffering. This is indicated by the Indian word "ahimsa", which means "do not harm". In this special form of breeding, the silk moth butterflies are allowed to hatch before their cocoons are collected and the silk threads are unwound. The cocoons are opened when the butterfly hatches, so the silk thread that can be unwound is shorter than with cultivated silk, where the threads are unwound before hatching and therefore remain long. This is irrelevant for blanket fillings because the climate-regulating properties of the silk are retained. Nevertheless, there is one drawback for us consumers when it comes to the animal-friendly breeding of Ahimsa silk: the extraction and processing of the shorter silk thread is more complex, which is why Ahimsa wild silk is more expensive than conventionally produced silk. Prolana only uses golden-brown wild silk, which is particularly suitable for filling blankets thanks to its high bulkiness. The silk is first processed into an airy fleece and then quilted with the cotton filling, which comes from controlled organic cultivation.

Bedding made from certified natural materials, produced with respect for people and animals and carefully crafted by hand - this is what Prolana has stood for since 1987. The majority of production takes place on site at the company headquarters in Waldburg: from processing the supplied wool into fleece to making up the bedding and manufacturing the mattresses.

The raw materials come from controlled organic cultivation and controlled organic animal husbandry and carry certifications such as the Quality Association for Environmentally Compatible Latex Mattresses (QUL) or the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS). Prolana not only knows the production facilities, suppliers and people involved in the value chain personally, but also supports them through surcharges, local projects and new fair trade standards, some of which it has created itself. For example, Prolana played a key role in the founding of the Fair Rubber e.V. fair trade association.
