Lighter than cast iron, but blessed with similar, convincingly good frying properties. That's what this wrought iron frying pan is. "Swedish steel", by the way, is to be understood literally, because the manufacturer is not only based in the Scandinavian country and produces its pans there, it also obtains the required raw material from a factory in Sweden. The pan comes to you already baked, which means the forged iron is coated with a corrosion layer of good vegetable oil, so you can get started right away. For fried potatoes, steak and anything that needs to be seared or roasted, the wrought iron pan really comes into its own, as it not only heats to a very high temperature, but also distributes the stored heat evenly over the base and rim. The pan is even ovenproof up to 200 °C and can therefore be used just as well in the manner of an open, round roaster. Our recommendation: To reinforce the existing protective layer of vegetable oil, you are welcome to use a little more frying fat than usual at the beginning. With appropriate temperature regulation, you can then fry even fish in this pan.
The material is suitable for all kinds of stoves – electric, gas, induction and even open fire. However, for glass-ceramic cooking surfaces, we recommend the pans only to a limited extent because the rough surface of the material can leave a mark. The hotplate should not be smaller than the bottom of the pan.
