Tea and coffee pot enamel

Not merely eye-catcher of any coffee table, but also exceedingly functional. Whether for a stylish coffee party, garden party or camping, the enameled steel tea and coffee pot is robust and suitable for drinks of any temperature and color.

For example, used as a teapot, the holes of the inner spout sieve coarser tea leaves back into the pot. As a coffee pot, it keeps the drink warm as it can stand on the teapot warmer. And as a juice pot, its lid protects the juice from intrusive wasps (or even the wasps from drowning) during the summer coffee table in the garden.

Anyway, the jug does not resent even spirited handling due to its robust material. And even misuse, for example, as a flower vase she thanks with their purist striking color and design language.

Until the 1950s, enameled tableware from the house of Kockums Jernverk ("Kockums Ironworks") celebrated a veritable triumph. The pots, pans, utensils, jugs and mugs of the southern Swedish family business based in Ronneby were part of the standard equipment of Swedish households.

Only the worldwide "plastification" ended the success of the traditional company. For about 50 years, the designs and craftsmanship knowledge lay fallow - until the supposedly "modern times" general overhaul. Since then, they have been fighting against the plastic flood. As natural materials as possible, resource-saving production, durable products: These aspects are in the foreground today.

Retro? At most in design: the enamel tableware from Kockums Jernverk references the heyday of the 1930s - with a design whose functional purism was certainly inspired and reinforced by the Bauhaus. Clear shapes paired with striking yet unobtrusive color schemes: this is what we associate with Swedish design.

But beyond that, enamel clearly points to the future. Enameled steelware is functional and robust, it doesn't rust (as long as the enamel layer isn't damaged) and it lasts a perceived eternity - sustainability in its purest form.
