General Information
Christmas statement
We believe that the festival of light deserves nothing less than a Christmas "beacon". This Christmas pyramid, which rises a proud 74 centimetres into the air with its five levels, fulfills this signal function, visible from afar - an eye-catcher that also creates a festive atmosphere as a stand-alone Christmas decoration.
The five levels offer the opportunity to tell the Christmas story in many details. On the first floor, for example, a dignitary does the rounds with his guards, while the Three Wise Men set off on their journey on the floor above. On the third level, Mary and Joseph, shepherds and sheep surround the crib, while above them shepherds listen reverently to the angel's announcement. On the roof terrace, more angels trumpet the good news to the world.
The fact that the hexagonal pyramid does not appear overloaded despite the wealth of detail is thanks to the clear design of this craftsmanship. The Seiffen workshop, which produces this pyramid from solid beech, birch and spruce wood, has been cultivating the folk art of the Erzgebirge for eight decades. This tradition resulted in the multi-storey structure of the stepped pyramid, which elevated the original island of light to a lighthouse. Each figure in our Seiffen Christmas pyramid is crafted with great care, mostly turned by hand, sanded smooth and painted. With the help of standard tea lights, you can set this Christmas pyramid in a smooth rotating motion. Three tealight holders are mounted offset to each other on the first and third levels, so the candle flames create an all-round even flow of warm air that drives the impeller - and transforms the pyramid into a moving light figure for your Christmas decorations.
Folk art from the Erzgebirge. Seiffen
The fact that a famous wood art developed in the originally densely forested Erzgebirge is not only explained by the availability of the material. As a branch of industry, handicrafts became all the more important as the local mining industry rapidly lost resources and profitability. Folk art slipped into this gap, which mining - no less than Christmas - still shaped with numerous motifs. A center of wood art emerged around Seiffen, where one of the first specialized trade schools was founded in 1853 to promote handicrafts. In the so-called Toy Corner, small and large craft businesses still produce the classics of the folk art of the Erzgebirge: from hoop animals and smoking men to miner figures and nutcrackers to candle arches and wing pyramids.
Note:
Certain manufacturing steps are carried out by hand. Slight dimensional and color deviations may therefore occur.
