St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, was a charitable man who distributed his wealth to those in need. This magic of generosity and human warmth is also shown by our friendly, smiling Santa Claus, who has a small doll and a teddy bear peering expectantly out of his coat pockets. Incidentally, his characteristic appearance with his deep red coat, white beard and slightly reddened chubby cheeks does not go back to the Bishop of Myra, but was coined in the 19th and 20th centuries by artists such as Thomas Nast. The large lemonade company therefore did not invent Santa Claus, but merely popularized him worldwide.

Mouth-blown into the mold, the Lauscha Santa Claus has a very three-dimensional appearance, right down to his facial features, which are enhanced by numerous hand-painted, lovingly crafted details, from the thick hooded coat with fur trim on the cuffs to the warm gloves and the snow-dusted fir tree in his arms. At a good 16 centimetres high, the figurine is an atmospheric eye-catcher, whether arranged in an Advent arrangement, in the Christmas tree or on the festive table. The mica-embellished man often reflects the light from candles and fairy lights and emphasizes the warm glow of your festive decorations.

The glassblowers of Lauscha used to call the figurative glass ornaments, which were blown into two-part negative molds "before the lamp", a matter of form. Today, as then, the lamp is the gas burner, whose flame keeps the glass viscous and malleable. And the molds that are used are also the same as 100 or 150 years ago. They are usually made of ceramic and must be handled with care, because in order to preserve them - and not overheat them in use - the molds must be gently cooled down again at regular intervals. Thus, no more than 150 figures or ornaments can be blown in one go. Only the starting material is different than in the past, because instead of glass tubes drawn specifically for this purpose, prefabricated flasks made of colorless soda-lime glass are now used.

Certain manufacturing steps are carried out by hand. Slight dimensional and color deviations may therefore occur.
