Real badger hair is the measure of all things in shaving brushes. A distinction is made between the badger stock (the gray or black undercoat) and the fine badger pluck, the decorative hair, which is naturally drawn in three colors: light in the lower area, dark, almost black in the middle and lightly set off at the tips. The more clearly the pattern is visible on the brush, the higher the quality of the brush, because the more carefully the hair was obtained and processed - both are done by hand. The hairs are placed upside down in a push box and pushed until the desired contour is achieved. In order to preserve the fine hair tips - only with them can the foam be finely beaten and well applied - the brush is not mechanically reworked.

It is once again significantly finer than the "normal" badger hair and delivers the very finest, creamy lather for a shave that is gentle on the skin. However, even the normal badger hair is already very fine and elastic and provides high-quality shaving brushes with which a fine-pored foam can be produced. With proper handling and care (gently lather the skin, wash out soap completely from the trim with warm water, let the shaving brush dry hanging) a badger hair trim can remain a good 10 years in use.
