Natural: the toe separator
Hardly any footwear is more formally reduced and functionally closer to nature than the toe separator. So why not think along the same lines when it comes to the choice of materials? Werner has done so and, together with designer Laura Ullmann, has created a counter-design to conventional plastic models that is convincing both from an ecological point of view and in terms of fashion - the Cocolette. Part of its sole is made of coconut fibers, which are durable, easy to clean and moisture-resistant. They are woven in the Volcanic Eifel, by August Schär KG, Germany's only coconut weaving mill. Straps and toe web are made of linen, a breathable and resource-saving natural fiber.
It doesn't get more natural than this - and it couldn't get more robust, either, because the properties of these materials make them inherently durable. Inspired by the Cradle to Cradle® principle, the Cocolette is also designed to be sustainable throughout its entire production cycle: from the raw materials and the materials made from them, to the product and its disposal, because it is completely biodegradable. In short, the Cocolette is a handmade piece of nature.
Werner Schuhe. Proven fit, comfortable to wear
Natural materials, as well as a pleasant wearing sensation due to proven fits characterize Werner shoes - in line with the claim of the family business founded in 1911 to produce beautiful and good shoes. What once began with sturdy work and hiking boots developed into the sophisticated après-ski boots of the 1970s/80s and finally into today's range of sporty and elegant (leisure) shoes for men and women. Werner also actively pursues new developments in materials. For many years, Werner shoes were made at the company's founding location in Pirmasens, but today the "Steppmäde" and "Zwicker" work in southeastern Europe. The raw materials come from Germany and neighboring European countries, which guarantees consistently high quality.
