Vase wine bottle
Recycling used glass. Vases made from wine bottles
What began two years ago in a Parisian apartment as an idea between friends is now a success story. The two Frenchmen Emeric Cruchant Fleuriau and Gauthier Decarne collect empty wine bottles to make glass flower vases in various sizes. A kind of revitalization measure, as they describe it themselves, with which they want to preserve the carefree atmosphere of wine evenings in convivial company. To this end, the two have now entered into a partnership with restaurateurs in the Hauts-de-France region, Decarne's home, who regularly hand over the used glass collected in their restaurants - more than 1,000 bottles a week - to them. The manual part of this undertaking works as follows: The bottles are first thoroughly cleaned and then the neck of the bottle is "blasted off", as they say in glass workers' jargon, i.e. first scored and then cut off with special scissors. The sharp-edged edges that are created during this process are finally sanded clean and smooth. Depending on the initial shape of the bottle and the color of the glass, the vases can turn out differently.
