Viking knife oil
Pure vegetable care for Damascus knife
Main ingredient of this pure vegetable care oil is camellia oil. In Asia, tea has always been extracted from the leaves of this ornamental plant and its oil is used to care for swords, weapons and cooking knives made of carbon steel and Damascus steel. It is particularly suitable as an anticorrosive due to its high pH - it contains only a very small amount of acid - and its ability not to emulsify with water. It neither gums up nor volatilizes, but leaves a thin film on the blade that not only protects against moisture, dirt and UV radiation, but also imparts a fine gloss and highlights the contours of the steel. Thanks to its low viscosity, the colorless and odorless oil is quickly absorbed into wooden surfaces, making it ideal for caring for knives with wooden handles.
Thanks to its skin-caring properties, camellia oil is now often used as a base for skin creams and hair oils. You can therefore use the Viking Knife Oil for surfaces that come into contact with food, such as wooden boards or horn cutlery, but also for razors and their handles made of wood or horn. Apply the oil thinly with a fine cotton cloth and let it soak in for about six hours.
