Wine and champagne cooler Rehau
Without socket, cooling cuffs or ice cubes: a self-cooling vessel for wine and sparkling wine based on the principle of evaporative cooling. How it works. The evaporation of water requires energy, which is extracted from the ambient air in the form of thermal energy. This leads to a lowering of the air temperature. The actual effect: due to the porosity of the fired clay, water diffuses through the wall of the cooler and evaporates on the outside. This removes thermal energy from the inside of the cooler and significantly lowers the temperature. The cooling performance of Kaufmann ceramics from Rehau is impressive: wine or sparkling wine stays cool for hours. The base is covered on the outside with a 1/3-height matte gray or matte white glaze, while the unglazed version has a transparent glaze on the inside only. This prevents the release of moisture to the bottom of the vessel. To activate the effect of the cooler, it must be immersed in cold water or filled with cold water for a few minutes. In this case, much helps much, because the longer it is watered, the better the cooling effect.
