Lightweight. Thermal vest made from recycled polyester

This long vest, quilted in a diagonal check pattern, is made entirely of recycled polyester—both the outer fabric and the filling—making it weather-resistant, pleasantly lightweight, and yet very warm. Spanish designer Javier Goyeneche has found his own way to combat raw material waste. Since 2012, his label Ecoalf has been producing fashion made from recycled fibers. A key project is “Upcycling the Oceans,” founded in 2015, in which more than 4,000 fishermen and fisherwomen from Spain, Thailand, Greece, Italy, France, and Egypt now recover plastic waste from the ocean. This waste is transformed into yarn, which is then used to create clothing, shoes, and accessories. In addition, Ecoalf is also involved in recycling textile fibers, specifically cotton and wool—and finally, Ecoalf has also mastered the challenge of repurposing old car tires as outsoles for shoes.
