The graphic pattern with its contrasting colors is simple and straightforward, creating tension in this soft cushion cover made of alpaca hair. Nevertheless, they merge into one another in a gentle, striped color gradient - like earth and sky on the horizon. It was two pictures showing the horizon that inspired French designer Inga Sempé to create this design. Sempé herself calls her collection, which includes this cushion cover, "Carte Postale" because the motifs remind her of old vacation postcards. Elvang uses soft alpaca hair (50%) and hard-wearing wool (40%) for the warm, lightweight fabric. The color gradients are created solely through the use of differently dyed yarns. A large proportion of the material is obtained from the cutting and weaving scraps that are produced during quality control and during the processing of the textiles on site. It is therefore known exactly what type of wool remnants are involved, namely only the wool processed in-house - here it is a total of 45% recycled alpaca and sheep's wool. The ten percent polyamide and acrylic fibers contained in addition to the recycled wool are due to the manufacturing process and cannot be sorted out. However, this proportion ensures that the pillowcase retains its shape for a long time.

The Danish label Elvang stands for Scandinavian design tradition and textiles made from Peruvian alpaca hair – in the fibres’ country of origin. The idea came to Tina and Lasse Elvang, the brand’s founders, on a backpacking trip through Peru in 2002. When they came into contact with alpacas, their wonderfully soft hair and the traditional local textile craft, they found the entire package highly inspiring. They decided to venture into the collaboration of two worlds – based on ethical trade principles. A year later, they launched their first collection, and a global success story began. Mercantile integrity is still a high priority for the brand. Elvang is a “guaranteed member” of the World Fair Trade Organisation: the most elevated status conferred by the organisation.
