Work table heart beech wood
Working tool. And center
His name says it all: the "work table", which originated in Vienna, is a working tool for every conceivable task, from preparing the world revolution to the upcoming tax return, as a family meeting place or communication center. It is quite massive and takes the space it needs: A beech wood top, glued from particularly wide planks, rests on the base of burnished steel square tubes. Three cross-members, reminiscent of boat frames, hold the top in shape and at the same time at a distance from the frame in the manner of traditional ridge strips - which not only allows the heavy top to float visually above the frame, but at the same time ensures generous legroom.
The table top shows the special, original growth characteristics of the so-called heartwood beech, in which the core of the trunk is darker. The surface is largely natural, only lightly pre-oiled. You can protect it additionally, for example with linseed oil, but you don't have to - then work and family gatherings just leave additional traces. And that can also, quite unmetaphorically, be quite desirable. The table comes from Vienna, from the skilled carpenters Werner and Katja Nussbaumer. In their workshop, they create furniture in which ingenuity and tradition-conscious craftsmanship go hand in hand. Both are as much hand workers as they are head workers, penetrating their designs, searching for the core of their things. And when it comes to a table for the Nussbaumers, they make (r)a table. Not a dining table, not a kitchen table, not a desk, but just a table.
