    General Information

    Frying pan with high rim

A frying pan with a high rim is extremely practical when it comes to accommodating large quantities of food to be fried or to swirl it during preparation. If it is also made of wrought iron, it combines these advantages with the excellent thermal behavior of the material: it can be heated to a very high temperature and transfers the heat to the food almost undiminished.

    Forged under the die

The pan with forged, welded hook handle owes its character as much to the material from which it is made: heavy, indestructible, rustic for "strictest" use on electric stoves, gas stoves and the open fire of the grill. However, forging such a pan is not an easy task, especially if it is done "automatically" under the die. Ours is the first and so far the only one of this type. Made in Westphalia.

More than 150 years of experience

Free-form hot-forged pans have been manufactured at Turk in Westphalia since 1857. In the past, such pans were also referred to as "hand-forged" - although this term can be misunderstood, as current technical aids are used nonetheless. The ladle blank is forged out under the hammer, but then punched out by means of a press and reworked again with the hammer. Unevenness is evened out with a laser if necessary. From both machines - punching as well as laser - there may be fine marks on the rim and stem of the ladle. Today, the main customer for the pans is the restaurant trade, because trained chefs appreciate the excellent frying properties of iron pans. The company, which is now run by the fifth generation of the family, came into being when the trained blacksmith Karl Albert Turk set up a hammer mill in his father-in-law's mill.

    Stove types:

The material is suitable for all types of stoves (electric, gas, induction and even open fire). However, for glass-ceramic cooktops we recommend the pans only conditionally, because the rough surface of the original material can leave its mark. Remember that the stove top should not be smaller than the bottom of the pan.
