Yak hair is ideal for making very light, yet extremely warm blankets, as the hair is light and soft, yet very strong. Yaks are the only cattle species to have a multi-layered and particularly dense coat. Only the fine undercoat, one of the softest and finest natural hairs, can be spun into yak yarn, which then comes very close to cashmere. This blanket is woven from pure, natural yak hair. Undyed and unbleached, the hair shows its natural brown color and is extremely fine and soft with a fiber fineness of 18.5 to 21 microns. Here, too, both sides are mechanically roughened after weaving and the edges are bound with (here red) cotton yarn. The yak hair blanket is made in Germany.
