The pencil manufacturer Cretacolor in Hirm in the Austrian Burgenland not only produces pencils, but watercolor pencils too. In this form they are only offered by Cretacolor. They are not wood-cased, but consist of a pure colored watercolor lead coated with a thin layer of varnish in the same color. With this watercolor pencils you can draw fine lines as well as large areas. The balanced adjustment of the color pigments and bonding agents with water soluble waxes allows an intensively colored, soft swab. As a result they look like painted water colors, but, here, with these pencils you can draw in the wet and dry motive and place accents. The watercolor pencils can be sharpened with a normal pencil sharpener.
