Curtains and drapes

Granting glimpses, denying glimpses. Curtains have meanwhile found their permanent place at the window, whether they allow open glimpses into the apartment or separate inside and outside when drawn. But they always change a room and its tone, they are not only a privacy screen but also a design element - all the more so when color comes into play. Their former function as bed curtains (Dutch: gordijn) is still reflected in the famous curtain sermon (gordijnpreek), the nightly punishment speech of the wife waiting behind the curtain to her husband when he returned home (too) late at night.
