Deck chair rattan

General Information
Following the historical model
The comfort offered has made (literary) history: At least since Thomas Mann's "Zauberberg," we have an idea of convalescents gathering new strength in the fresh air - and resting comfortably in such a recliner. In Denmark, too, deck chairs made of rattan were very popular and widespread in sanatoriums and hospitals in the 1930s. Based on a Danish design of that time, our model is made very functional. The backrest can be adjusted in several steps, and with a few simple steps, the footrest can be folded under the furniture, turning the recliner into a no less comfortable armchair. If you want to put the deck chair aside or stow it away over the winter, it can be folded even smaller and - literally - easily stored in a confined space, for example on the top shelf in the shed or basement.
Very light, enormously stable
Rattan is obtained from the trunk wood of the Southeast Asian Rotang palm. This material is extraordinarily strong and at the same time unusually light. It is therefore well suited for furniture construction, and even larger pieces of furniture made of rattan can be easily transported with little effort.
Sustainability. From the land where the rattan grows
This rattan furniture is made in Indonesia and fulfills the principle of sustainability in more ways than one. As a fast-growing climbing plant, the Rotangpalme grows again after trimming and can therefore be "harvested" several times a year. The Danish manufacturer also only uses untreated rattan, not only for the sake of the original beauty of the material, but also to reduce the impact of pollutants and fine dust on the environment and craftsmen by dispensing with sanding and varnishing. Finally, the furniture is made locally by Indonesian craftsmen - by those people in whose cultural circle the rattan weaving was "invented", so to speak.

This furniture from Indonesia is made from sustainable rattan. After cutting, the rotang palm grows back quickly and can easily be "harvested" several times per year without damaging it. In addition the Danish manufacturer processes the rattan untreated, not just because of the natural beauty of the material, but also in order to avoid exposing the workers and the environment to pollutants and fine particulates.
