Werkhaus. Peg and wedge connectors 2.0

The intelligent Werkhaus construction principle is astonishingly simple and needs no tools for assembly: The robust, shape retaining HDF (high-density fiber board) elements consist of panels made from fine wood fiber, glue and water. These are precisely cut with CNC machines. The elements are connected by inserting a peg notched on both sides of one panel through a slot in a second panel. The peg is then fastened with a rubber ring. The resulting units are light and despite relatively thin walls are astonishingly stable, serviceable and can be easily dismantled and assembled at any time.
The reversible connecting system, selection of material and the machine assembly are suited for the construction of complex but economical products, which are ideal for sales displays in stores and fair stands. It was no surprise that this kind of furniture concept and construction rapidly became the main business of the firm after it was founded in 1992.
